Dream Journey Through the Isle: smoke dish - White
This series refers to a similarly named “Dream Journey to the Peach Blossom Land” (Joseon Dynasty 1447) a Korean landscape painting depicting a utopic mountain scape based on an unusual dream. This dioramic smoking dish, offers a SETTING for the foggy smoke and settling of the ash to be an evolving and integral part of the piece. Along with the physical changes, the sun and moon’s placement relative to the mountain changes as you move around the dish. Despite the static structure of fired clay, the changing of time and space shifts as your view and use continues.
All pieces are hand made on the wheel. There will be variation in size.
